Did you know that a solid foundation won’t stop a slab leak? Are you aware that your insurance will likely not cover this kind of leak? If you were unaware of these issues, not to worry, our professional plumbers are here to help. At CMH Plumbing Solutions, we know how to properly locate a slab leak before it gets out of control and ends up causing major problems for you and your home.
Slab leaks are very common in homes but are also extremely frustrating as they are hard to detect. Early detection is the most important part of repairing the leak before destruction happens. Professionals will be able to use the tools at their disposal to correctly identify any slab leaks, manage the damage that may already have occurred, and prevent any more damage from happening. While these leaks are generally hard to identify, we’ve come up with a list of some warning signs that could mean you have a slab leak. Read them below!
If you notice a persistently hot spot on your floor, this could mean a hot water line has burst.
Pools of water tend to be an indicator, so if your floor is wet and you didn’t just spill water, you likely have a leak.
If your toilets, showers, or sinks have stopped working, this is a sign that your water line could be broken.
If you notice cracks on the walls or floors of your home, that is a huge sign of a slab leak.
Any unexplained odors are usually a sign of a leak as the water gets into the wood and creates mold and mildew.
When you call our professional plumbers, our first step once we’ve arrived at your house is to check if you have cleanouts installed. If you do not, you will most likely need them installed before we run any tests. Once we have either installed a new cleanout, or checked to make sure that your current cleanout is up to snuff, we then start with hydrostatic testing. If that test comes back negative, we send another plumber out to double check it and make sure of the results. We always double check our tests as one of our key goals is remaining transparent with our customers.
If the hydrostatic test comes back negative twice, we then know there is definitely a problem and will move to the next step which is
static isolation testing. Static isolation testing is used to determine the exact location of your slab leaks. Once we have located the leaks, we will then advise you on the proper measures to take before beginning
slab leak repairs.
If you are noticing any signs of slab leaks in your home, it’s best to not wait. Call a professional plumber in your area immediately so the process of testing for leaks can begin before it’s too late to save your slab. With over 20 years of experience, we can detect your slab leaks prior to any disastrous outcomes. Contact us today if you suspect a slab leak might be appearing in your home.
